Reetinder Singh Sodhi's quickfire 41 off 15 balls went in vain as Hyderabad Heroes edged out Amhedabad Rockets by just three runs in a thrilling tie in the 23rd match of the ICL 20-20 Championship at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium on Wednesday night.
Chasing a target of 167 in 20 overs, the Ahmadabad Rockets made a good start but failed to keep the acceleration going as the match slipped out of their hand at the end.
Murray Goodwin and Ryan Campbell made a cautious start, stitching a 54-run opening partnership in 9.2 overs. The duo picked up one and twos and coupled it with some lusty blows to give the Rockets a good foundation but their journey was cut short when spinner Nicky Boje delivery caught Campbell in front of the wicket in the 10th over. Campbell's 27-ball innings of 33 was studded with three fours and a six.
Earlier, Hyderabad Heroes survived a mini-collapse and came back strongly to post a challenging 166 for six in 20 overs, courtesy some sparkling innings from the middle order batsmen -- Struat Binny, Nicky Boje and Harris.
